Cipanci Refuge

Cipanci National Wildlife Refuge:

This refuge is part of the wetlands in the lower basin of the Tempisque River; it was declared a RAMSAR Wetland of International Importance by the convention on wetlands.

Mangroves, marshes, rivers, forests, and diverse land and aquatic flora and fauna, as well as beautiful scenery, all make up its main attractions.

Location: The refuge covers the mouth of the Bolsón River until Toro Island, in Níspero. The Bolsón area extends from the Charco River outlet to the Bolsón River outlet, on the right side of the Tempisque River.

Services offered: Visitor information at the control points, hiking trails, boat trips, flora and fauna observation, line fishing, picture taking, tours, educational activities and research.
